Loro Parque was founded in 1972. Today it is a pioneering zoo in the conservation of endangered species and the promotion of environmental awareness. Loro Parque is one of the leading zoos in the field of conservation and nature preservation. In the middle of the park is the “Animal Embassy”, the headquarters of the “Loro Parque Fundación”. This is a foundation for which Loro Parque covers the entire costs. In 2017, Loro Parque became the first European zoo to receive a “humane certificate”, issued by the American Humane Association. This is the largest quality mark in the world for animal welfare. The park is home to the world’s largest collection of parrots (Loro=parrot)
For me personally (and many others share this thought) this is the most beautiful zoo in the world! Everything is taken care of down to the last detail. The entire park is full of beautiful plants and flowerbeds. The animal enclosures are spacious and very nicely themed and everything is very clean. The staff works very hard every day to make sure everything looks perfect. When you walk into Loro Parque you feel like you are in an oasis of beautiful flowers, plants, animals, smells and sounds. The entrance is an exact replica of the buildings from a traditional Thai village. Loro Parque is the only one that has been given permission to exhibit these buildings, made in Thailand, outside the country. Immediately after the entrance you are greeted by a lush wall of vegetation, making it seem like you are about to enter a jungle. From this point you enter the world of Loro Parque.

Dit is een stichting waarvan Loro Parque de totale kosten dekt. In 2017 werd Loro Parque de eerste Europese dierentuin die een “humane certificate” ontving, uitgegeven door the American Humane Association. Dit is het grootste keurmerk ter wereld voor het welzijn van dieren. In het park bevindt zich 's werelds grootste papegaaiencollectie ( Loro=papegaai )
Voor mij persoonlijk (en ook velen met mij delen deze gedachte) is dit de mooiste dierentuin ter wereld! Werkelijk alles is tot in de puntjes verzorgd. Het hele park staat bomvol prachtige planten en perken. De dierenverblijven zijn ruim en zeer mooi gethematiseerd en alles is zeer schoon. Er wordt dagelijks heel hard gewerkt door het personeel om te zorgen dat alles er perfect uitziet. Wanneer je in Loro Parque loopt waan je je in een oase van prachtige bloemen, planten, dieren, geuren en geluiden. De ingang is een exacte replica van de gebouwen uit een traditioneel Thais dorp. Loro Parque is de enige die toestemming kreeg om deze, in Thailand vervaardigde gebouwen buiten het land zelf tentoon te mogen stellen. Direct na de ingang wordt je begroet door een weelderige muur van begroeiing, waardoor het lijkt of je een oerwoud gaat betreden. Vanaf dit punt kom je binnen in de wereld van Loro Parque.
